What are amino acids?
Amino Acids are the building block of proteins and necessary for many of the structures and functions of our bodies. Our bodies need 20 different amino acids to function on a daily basis. Our bodies can produce 11 out of the 20 amino acids we need. The other 9 are named “essential amino acids” as it is essential we consume them ourselves, whether this be through food or products. The essential amino acids are: Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, and Valine.
Why amino acids are good for you?
Essential Amino Acids produce proteins which are used in many ways, including building our muscles, bones, hair and nails. In cosmetics and personal care products, amino acids function primarily as hair and skin conditioning agents.
